Paris, December 6, 2024 (OLA NEWS PARIS) – Under grey skies, thousands of demonstrators gathered in the streets of Paris to denounce government reforms seen as a threat to public services. Organized by major unions, including CGT, CFDT, and UNSA, the march featured sharp slogans and bold messages.
Signs such as “Subway, Work, Grave – No Thanks!” and “Public workers’ salaries aren’t frozen meals, it’s time to take them out of the freezer” illustrated the frustration among participants. One protester carried a sign calling for the removal of Emmanuel Macron, deemed “the problem” behind austerity policies.
The diverse turnout included teachers, municipal workers, healthcare professionals, and students united under common demands to oppose budget cuts, pension reforms, and the privatization of universities. Banners such as “No to Austerity: Save Our Public Services” and “Purchasing Power and Health: No to Punitive Measures” echoed throughout the march.
Among the political figures present, Alexis Corbière, deputy of the EcoS, joined the march to show support for union demands. The protest was heavily monitored by police but remained peaceful, as unions announced plans for intensified action if the government fails to respond to their demands.
