CFDT Demonstration at Decathlon Store Highlights Labor Issues

Paris, December 7, 2024 (OLA NEWS PARIS) – Outside the Decathlon store on Rue Duphot, dozens of CFDT union members gathered under an orange tent to raise awareness about working conditions within the company. This action, part of a nationwide movement, calls for improved working conditions and wage increases for retail employees.

The demonstrators, wearing orange vests with the CFDT logo, handed out flyers outlining employees’ grievances. Key demands include reducing excessive work hours, addressing the physical strain of retail jobs, and implementing wage increases to match inflation.

The peaceful yet determined demonstration drew attention from passersby and Decathlon customers. Some stopped to engage with the demonstrators, while others voiced their support. Slogans like “Fair wages for hard work” echoed around the picket line.

The CFDT accuses Decathlon of failing to sufficiently value its employees despite the company’s strong profits in recent years. This protest reflects growing tensions in the retail sector, with unions pushing for more constructive social dialogue.
