Paris, December 5, 2024 (OLA NEWS PARIS) – Members of the Confédération Paysanne and other agricultural activists staged a dramatic demonstration today, disrupting an agri-industry meeting in Paris to protest against industrial farming practices and price speculation.
The protesters unfurled large banners reading “Save Farmers, Eat a Trader!” and “Speculation: The Start of Hunger,” highlighting their concerns over the economic pressures faced by small-scale farmers. Smoke bombs and hay scattered at the venue symbolized the struggle for a more sustainable agricultural model.
Wearing yellow vests and holding flags, the demonstrators demanded fairer prices and an end to speculative practices that undermine rural livelihoods. Some carried signs with messages such as “Farmers’ incomes at risk due to speculation” and “Traders: Value Predators.”
Despite the disruptive nature of the protest, the event remained peaceful, with organizers emphasizing the need for systemic reforms to protect farming communities. This action marks the latest in a series of mobilizations by rural activists seeking to draw attention to the growing challenges of industrial agriculture.
